International Scholarships for Pakistani Students
Being a bright student makes you dream to go abroad for further studies. Now, it has become easier to apply for foreign universities as number of them offer scholarship to the students worldwide especially Pakistan. You can either from your local college/universities or even at online sites. For your ease, we have made a list of scholarships offered to students that anyone can apply for.
Australia Awards Scholarships
Australian Government Scholarship:
The most prominent scholarship awarded by Australian government is Australia Award Scholarship to students who would love to pursue their higher studies in reputed international schools. Students from developing countries have great potential and talent; however, they lack proper resources to hone their skills. But universities in Australia offer students not only medical, engineering or arts related courses but also provide technical education at graduate and post-graduate level. Just like most of the fully-funded scholarships, Australia Award Scholarship includes following things
Allowances:
- Full tuition fees
- Travel allowance in economy class for return only at the end of term
- Health cover allowance for overseas students
- Personal allowance (including accommodation, text books and living)
- English course allowance (English course is must for students from abroad)
- Introductory Academic Program allowance (IAP is 4-6 weeks program that covers the introduction to Australian life and study program)
Eligibility Criteria:
- Be a foreigner
- Not resident or citizen of Australia or New Zealand
- Holder of PSCC (police Security Clearance certificate
- No on-going scholarship anywhere in the world or any other international scholarship in past 24 months or applying for a supporting course to the already commenced one in Australia
- Have a substantial development plan for residential country
- Must have relevant 16 years of educational background with at least 5 years of experience
- Less than 45 years of age
- Must meet English Language Proficiency with clearance in IELTS and/or TOEFL with overall 6.5 band score. However, no single band score should be less than 6.0
Required Documents:
- Original Country Requirement Sheet
- Original Country Development Plan Application
- Attested NIC/birth certificate or passport
- Attested Passport Size Photographs
- Attested Degree Certificates printed on both sides
- Attested IELTS or TOEFL results valid for that year
- Original Academic and Employment Reference Report
- Employment letter with years of service and job details
- Current CV or resume
- Attested NOC
For Master’s Degree Applicant
- Evidence Letter of an agreement with research supervisor
- Research Project Outline of maximum 1000 words
The applications by Pakistani students can be submitted from 1 Feburary-30 April with all the required documents. The shortlisted students will have their interview conducted in June-July and the final results will come by August. Applications can be submitted online only through OASIS; hard copy of applications will not be accepted. UK Government Scholarship:
UK is considered the top-most country providing quality education to local and international students. To make their universities accessible for underprivileged students, the British government offers numerous scholarships to students from abroad. The most sought-after UK scholarship is British Chevening Scholarships sponsored by FOC (Foreign and commonwealth offices) and other related organizations. The scholarships aim at creating leaders and influencers to build a harmonious relationship with other countries. The scholarship allows you to pursue your Master’s degree at any university depending on the course you have selected. To apply for this scholarship, you need to know the following things:
Allowances:
- Full tuition fees
- Travel allowance (economy class; to and from UK)
- Visa Allowance (for one only)
- Personal Allowance (accommodation, living, textbook expenses)
- TB test allowance
- Travel grant for events organized by Chevening anywhere in UK
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be a citizen of Chevening-supported country
- Holder of undergraduate degree
- Must have minimum 2 years work experience for Chevening Scholarship or 5-7 years of experience for fellowship
Work Experience Eligibility:
- Full-time job
- Part-time job
- Volunteer work
- Internship

- IELTS (with minimum 6.5 overall band score and at least 5.5 each band score)
- Pearson PTE Academic (minimum 61 overall score with at least 46 in each band)
- TOEFL ( minimum 79 overall score with 17 in listening & writing, 18 in reading, and 20 in speaking)
- Trinity ISE II (overall pass and pass in each band)
- Cambridge English Advance ( minimum 176 overall score with 162 in each band)
Students belonging to New Zealand, Jamaica, Australia, Canada, USA, British Overseas Territory, Antigua & Barbuda and few more countries are exempted from English Language Test.
- Applied to 3 different countries with at least one positive unconditional response
- Must not have British citizenship or dual British nationality
- Must not be a current or former employee of British Government, British Council or any University of Commonwealth; nor be related to British government employees
- No prior education in UK nor received any grant from UK government
Documents Required:
- Attested Passport/ NIC
- Attested Academic Degrees
- 2 references in English on letter format addressed to the embassy or consulate of your country
- Results of English Tests
Applications can only be submitted online with a valid account on their official website. All other documents except References need to be attached with the application; however, references are to be provided only after the interview call. American Government Scholarship:
America offers the most prestigious scholarship program under the name of Fullbright Foreign Student Program in USA. The scholarship provides merit-based funds to students who cannot afford education in a reputed US college/university. The program caters not only students but also professionals like teachers, artists and scientists. The best thing about Full-bright scholarship is not limited to universities in US but worldwide. The students granted the scholarship have bagged awards like Pulitzer and Nobel Prize. Following are the things you need to know before applying for Fulbright scholarship be it for any level:

Eligibility Criteria:
- Not a US citizen nor a dual national
- Willing to adapt to rural or urban lifestyle as per requirement
- Willing to work as a team member with staff and faculty of the institute
- Willing to teach native language and culture of your country
- Holder of US equivalent Bachelor’s Degree
- Teaching experience in the chosen course
Required Documents for Teaching/Research Program:

- 3 suggested courses that you want to pursue
- Verification Letter from the chosen University
- Compelling Project Statement for selection

The Fullbright Scholarship Program starts from February with the deadline of 1st May. All the relevant document and application needs to be submitted within the given timeframe. Before you submit your application, you need to fill up an Information Form after which you will receive an email for your application. After your application has been approved, you will be called for an interview. Bring along the following documents in hardcopy:
- 2 university certified diploma for undergraduate or graduate degrees
- 2 university certified transcripts for earned or in-progress degrees
- Official certificate of your GPA
- 3 recommendation letters in English
- Portfolio of your work
